About

Jeremy Beggs is a Ballarat-based folk songwriter who writes songs for people carrying more than they show.

Music has always been part of Jeremy's life. From piano lessons as a kid to playing saxophone through high school and later picking up bass and guitar, music became the place where he felt most at home. After years playing in bands and making music with friends, he eventually stepped out under his own name, chasing a dream that had been sitting quietly in the background for most of his life.

What followed wasn't a straight path. Life brought its share of challenges, including a period that forced Jeremy to confront questions around identity, self-worth, and mental health. Songwriting became a way of making sense of it all, and many of the songs that would eventually become his debut album, The Long Road, were written during that time.

Released through Oily Rags Records, The Long Road traces a journey from doubt and struggle towards acceptance, hope, and connection. While his music carries the warmth of Americana and singer-songwriter traditions, Jeremy has come to realise that at heart he is a folk songwriter — someone drawn to honest stories, imperfect characters, and the moments that remind us we are not alone.

Away from music, Jeremy is a teacher, husband, and father of three boys. Those roles shape both his songwriting and his outlook on life. Themes of family, resilience, love, and finding your place in the world run through much of his work.

Whether performing solo or alongside The Long Road Travellers, Jeremy's shows are built on conversation, connection, and the belief that songs can help us make sense of the road we're all walking.

After all, we're all carrying something. The trick is learning to keep walking.
